What is the hub?

The hub is a small device, around the same size as a broadband router. It is simple to install and works by connecting to your internet router. You will be sent installation instructions along with the hub once you are officially on the trial.

Why do you get a free hub for taking part in the trial?

By taking part in the trial you are helping us develop our technology. As a thank you for that we are making the hub free of cost for people accepted onto the trial.

I already have a hub, can I still be part of the trial?

Of course, you just need to complete the online questionnaire as normal by clicking on the “I want to take part button”.

What do I need to do with my eddi/zappi during the trial?

We want you to continue using your devices as normal. We will be looking at when and how you use electricity to find opportunities to flex your energy supply.

Who is in control of my devices?

You will always be in control of your devices!

This means that if you find yourself needing to consume energy quickly (e.g., your car needs to charge as quickly as possible, or you need hot water for a shower), then all you need to do is use your Boost and Fast Charging modes.

If for any reason during the trial you feel you are being inconvenienced, please contact us and we will investigate and rectify. Your feedback is important!

What if my internet is down for any reason? Will this affect the service I receive?

If your internet goes down temporarily you will not be able to use the app and Evergreen Smart Power will not be able to use their Virtual Power Plant to help use your eddi/zappi more efficiently. This means that if your internet is down for a long period of time, you should contact us as it will affect the trial.

How long will the trial last?

The trial will run until November 2020.

How many households are taking part in the trial?

There will be a maximum of 250 homes in the UK taking part in the trial.

How will my data be used?

The data that we gather about your current habits will help us design flexibility control strategies. Please refer to our Privacy Notice for all information regarding data retention.

How will the trial affect my bills?

Since we are not integrated with your energy supply contract, grid balancing actions we take will ultimately have a small impact on your bills.

This means that you may be rewarded for taking part by saving money or you may experience a small increase in your bills – approximately £1 more a month (assuming energy prices of 20p/kWh). The real impact on your bills however will be lower, as any extra energy consumed will be used to heat your house/water.

Might the trial inconvenience me?

The aim of the trial is to allow your zappi and eddi devices to respond flexibly to the grid’s energy supply status, without inconveniencing you. Your needs as a customer are the most important.

If for any reason during the trial you feel you are being inconvenienced, please contact us and we will investigate and rectify.

Where do I go if something goes wrong?

If you are having issues with your devices or need help with anything you can contact the myenergi helpdesk on support@myenergi.uk or call on 0333 300 1303. We are always happy to help.

Can I opt out of the trial?

Of course, if for any reason you no longer want to take part in the trial you can leave. However, you will be asked to reimburse myenergi towards the cost of the hub. The exact amount will be calculated based on how much of the trial you participated in but won’t be more than the hub’s RRP (£85).

I am on the tech trial, but I now want to be part of consumer research, what happens?

We have a limited number of spaces available for trialists who want to give feedback and take part in research. Therefore, we ask that you decide this when you register your interest in the trial.

However, if you let us know that you are interested, we may have spare places available.

What happens at the end of the trial?

The myenergi app and hub are now yours to do with as you please. However, the app will no longer be linked to Evergreens Virtual Power Plant.

What happens if I move house?

It’s important that you let us know if you are moving so we can update our records. You may still be able to use your device in your new home and so you can continue to be part of the trial.
